1:26 AM · Sep 8, 2022Update Thursday 7pm: Pacific Power just announced the initial power shut off times for Friday. Starting at 6 am Friday morning, power will be cut off from Toketee Falls east with additional areas nearby added around 4 PM. Due to elevated wildfire conditions and forecasted high, gusty winds, we will perform a Public Safety Power Shutoff in your area. The Public Safety Power Shutoff will affect approximately 12,000 customers and begin at around 12 a.m. on Friday, September 9 and could last through Saturday evening. Sections of the following communities could experience a Public Safety Power Shutoff: • Stayton through the Santiam Canyon • Lebanon • Sweet Home • Lincoln City • Glide east along Umpqua Highway A Public Safety Power Shutoff is a proactive measure to reduce wildfire risk during hazardous fire weather by proactively turning off power. Temporary community resource centers are being set up in the affected communities. Locations and a full list of amenities will be shared when that information is available. Pacific Power is taking additional safety precautions by directing extra personnel and resources to monitor weather impacts on the system. After weather conditions subside, a safety patrol will occur to ensure it is safe to re-energize the electrical network. We will provide a situation update in 24 hours.
