Music on the Half Shell's 30th Anniversary: Exciting Lineup for Summer 2023

Music on the Half Shell, a much-loved tradition in Roseburg, has announced its concert lineup for the summer of 2023. This free concert series, known for bringing top-notch artists to the local community, will once again fill Stewart Park with music every Tuesday evening throughout the summer. The season starts on June 27 at 7:00 PM with The Stone Foxes, a band from California. Brothers Shannon and Spence Koehler, the driving force behind the band, create a unique sound that blends different styles of music together. The concert series will take a break on July 4th to celebrate Independence Day. On July 11, GRAMMY®-nominated musician CJ Chenier will take the stage. Chenier has performed with many famous artists, including his GRAMMY® awarded father, Clifton Chenier, Paul Simon, Joe Sample, and Ray Parker, Jr. On July 18, American artist ZZ Ward, who grew up in the Roseburg area, known for her mix of blues, rock, and hip-hop, will perform. Ward's powerful vocals and energetic stage presence have drawn comparisons to iconic artists like Tina Turner and Aretha Franklin. On July 25, Heartless Bastards, an American rock band that started in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 2003, will perform. The band, led by the talented Erika Wennerstrom, has released six albums and has a unique and powerful sound. On August 1, Sona Jobarteh, the first professional female Kora virtuoso from the West African Griot dynasties, will perform. Jobarteh is known for her skill as an instrumentalist, her beautiful voice, and her grace onstage. On August 8, the Po’ Ramblin’ Boys, a bluegrass band from the Smoky Mountains, will perform. This band has a genuine sound and has captivated audiences worldwide. On August 15, The Lao Tizer Band, nominated for “Jazz Group of the Year,” will close out the season. This diverse group, led by keyboardist Lao Tizer, is known for their dynamic performances. Music on the Half Shell is excited to bring this diverse lineup of artists to Roseburg. Every summer, people gather at Stewart Park to listen to music, socialize, eat dinner on the lawn, and enjoy the great community in which we live. This year promises to be another fantastic season of music and community.
