Friday Afternoon Milepost 97 Fire Update: Lots of help on the way, over 650 personnel expected to be at the fire tomorrow.

The MP 97 fire has exploded to over 6,000 acres, over 4x bigger than it was this morning and is currently at 0% containment. The fire is burning mostly to the south and southwest of Canyonville. Ground and air resources are currently working on the fire with seven helicopters, two large air tankers and two single engine air tankers supporting firefighters on the ground. Significant help on the fire is going to be arriving on Saturday. The Oregon Department of Forestry Incident Management Team just held its first planning meeting with the district, cooperators and partners. The team is busy ordering resources to help with the fire.
