The Oakland boys basketball team started off hot from the 3-point line Wednesday night hitting five threes in the first quarter. The 2A Oakers went on to beat 1A North Douglas 60-42 in a nonleague matchup. Oakland (3-1) led 20-6 after the first quarter and led 35-20 at halftime. Triston Mask had 19 points and hit six 3-pointers for Oakland. Colton Brownson added 12 points, eight rebounds and four blocks. Noah Strempel had seven points, seven assists, four steals and two blocks. Corbin Picknell had eight points and Baker Brooksby had seven points off the bench for Oakland. “It was a solid defensive effort.” Oakland coach Jeff Clark said. Oakland was ranked sixth in the most recent OSAAtoday 2A coaches poll that was released on December 10. North Douglas was ranked seventh in the OSAAtoday 1A coaches poll. Oakland plays Glide at home on Friday at 7:30 p.m. North Douglas (3-1) plays Lowell at home Friday at 7:30 p.m. in the North Douglas Winter Invitational.
