5 Year Old Opens Up Plant Shop at Glide Farmers Market

7:20 PM · Jun 14, 2021

This past year, 5-year-old Luke Long used his extra time at home to plant seeds in his garden on his parent’s property out near Glide. Luke’s mother Patience Long knew Luke had been planting seeds, but it wasn’t until this spring that she saw just how many plants Luke had grown. The garden was so big that Patience encouraged Luke to open up a plant shop at the Glide Farmers market this summer. Some of the plants he now sells include tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, zucchini, squash, lettuce, and hanging baskets. Luke is saving up the money he’s earning for his own trailer to sell plants out of. The Glide Farmers Market is open each Tuesday from 10 am - 1 pm at the Glide Community Center Annex. You can find all sorts of “Homegrown, Homemade & Handmade Products”. There is lots of plants, fresh fruits, and vegetables, as well as homemade goods. The address of the Glide Community Center: 20062 N Umpqua Hwy, Glide, OR 97443
