Kruse Farms Market Property Sold to Local Family

7:33 PM · Aug 4, 2022

Kruse Farms at 532 Melrose Road sold on Aug. 2. According to the seller, it was sold to a local family, though plans for the 93-acre property have not been released. The Kruse family bought the market property in 1987 from the Lawrence family who established the original fruit stand. They added features that became staples in Douglas County family routines as they grew. Before they closed earlier this year, they had pumpkin picking, a bakery and a market of vegetables and shelf-stable goods. The Kruse Farm website shared a statement about the sale of the market and surrounding land. "The new owners have yet to decide what exactly they intend to do, that is up to them," the website said. "Thank you again for 3 decades of allowing us to provide Douglas County with the freshest produce, the most delicious bakery and all the items that the gift room offered." Kruse Farms now grows alfalfa, hay, grass seed and Upick Cherries and Blueberries. The sale is final but has not been recorded at the Douglas County Assessor's office yet, which typically takes a few weeks after closing to process. "This property comes around once in 4 generations," said the property listing. "This high profile farm market is equipped with a bakery and approximately 93 acres with river access. Class 1 soils, long standing irrigation rights, great local reputation, and exponential potential." This story will be updated as information becomes available.
