Here is a collection of family-friendly events going into the weekend and next week. Friday, Jan. 27 Roseburg Girls Basketball will play South Eugene at home. Junior Varsity will play at 5:15 p.m. and Varsity will play at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31 Elementary-age youth are invited to drop in for a Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) activity with Aurora at the Roseburg Public Library from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. All supplies provided. Roseburg Girls and Boys Swim Teams will compete against South Medford at the YMCA of Douglas County at 4 p.m. Roseburg Boys Basketball will play Sheldon at home. Junior Varsity and Freshman will play at 5:15 p.m. and Varsity will play at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1 Umpqua GrowthTalks is hosting a Start-up Pitch Night for entrepreneurs looking to practice pitching their business ideas and maybe getting some funding for their ideas. Register to attend, pitch, or judge for free at eventbrite.com and search Umpqua Economic Development Partnership. This pitch night will be at 5:30 p.m. at Backside Brewing Co. and free pizza will be provided. Seed Starting Tips n Tricks is offered by Friends of Myrtle Creek Library Group at 6 p.m. Each family that attends will be sent home with a seed starting kit! The event organizers ask for those planning to attend to RSVP via Facebook so they are prepared. Thursday, Feb. 2 Storytime at the Canyonville Community Library at 11:30 a.m. Story Time is for pre-K children. It is a safe space for children and their caregivers to meet friends, read books and play games, or make a craft. Lego Free time at the Roseburg Public will be at 3 p.m. All of the library's Legos and Duplos will be available for all ages to enjoy on a drop-in basis. A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder opens at Umpqua Actors Community Theatre at 7 p.m. The show will be open from Thursdays to Sundays until Feb. 19. Tickets are available online at www.uact-theatre.com/tickets. All tickets are $15. This production is recommended for audiences 13 and older.
