Local fire crews and DFPA responded quickly early this afternoon and put out the fire that started about 11:45 am. The fire spread to approximately 3 acres before it was put out. A bird apparently landed on a power line, caught fire and then dropped to the ground catching a field on fire. The location of the fire was off Melrose Road, to Colonial Road and then up Melrose Heights Lane. Excellent job by our local fire crews to quickly put out this fire.
