Community Celebrates Grand Opening of New Roseburg High School Softball Field

This afternoon the Roseburg School District held the grand opening of the new softball field at Roseburg High School. There were remarks from Roseburg School District Superintendent Jared Cordon, some RHS softball history from Haley Wattman, remarks from Steve Hammerson of the Roseburg School Board and then the ribbon cutting ceremony by the RHS varsity softball team. Refreshments were generously donated by the Ford Family Foundation. Here are some remarks from the Roseburg School District shared with attendees today: "A Field of Possibilities This project is a shining example of what can be accomplished when our community works together to support students and their education. By increasing equity and expanding opportunities for students, this field serves as an asset for both our community and our school district. We would like to thank everyone involved in bringing this field to life over the past year of construction. Our community's children deserve quality and safe facilities for learning, playing sports, and participating in extracurricular activities. As we continue efforts to provide our youth with the same quality experiences as those in urban regions of the state, we look forward to what we can accomplish next. This field is about more than turf; it is a reflection of how our community can thrive when we come together in service to our children.
