Grant Applications Open for Umpqua Fishery Enhancement Derby 2025-26

Grant applications are now open for the 33rd Annual Umpqua Fishery Enhancement Derby, to support local fish and river restoration projects throughout the Umpqua River Basin. May 8, 2025 ROSEBURG, OR – Douglas Timber Operators and the Umpqua Fishery Enhancement Derby are pleased to announce the opening of the grant application process for the 33rd Annual Umpqua Fishery Enhancement Derby. Thanks to the generous support of sponsors, all proceeds from this year’s Derby will remain in Douglas County, directly benefiting river restoration and fish enhancement projects throughout the Umpqua River Basin. 2025 Sponsors Include: - Presenting Sponsor: Cow Creek Band of Umpqua Tribe of Indians - Premier Sponsor: Cascade Community Credit Union - Boat Sponsor: Willie Boats - Golden Ticket Sponsor: Pape’ Machinery/Kenworth - Derby Hat Sponsor: Peterson CAT - Kids Day Co-Sponsors: Clint Newell Motors, Pacific Power, Nordic Veneer, and North River Grant Details: Application Deadline: Friday, June 6, 2025, by 5:00 p.m. - Award Notifications: By July 1, 2025 - Project Completion Deadline: June 30, 2026 - Funding Range: Typical grants range from $1,000 to $5,000, however all projects will be considered. - Project Selection Criteria: - Projects on private lands are strongly encouraged - Clear potential to meet multiple resource management goals - Demonstrated cost-sharing (funds, services, or in-kind contributions) - Feasibility of completion within grant timeframe - Direct improvements to habitat or fish passage - Priority will be given to applications that focus on wild salmon, steelhead, or trout populations The Umpqua Fishery Enhancement Derby continues to strengthen the community through hands-on conservation, partnership, and a shared commitment to the long-term health of local fisheries.
