Oregon Sourdough Co. Set to Open First Brick-and-Mortar Location in Roseburg

Oregon Sourdough Co., a local favorite at area farmers markets, has announced the grand opening of its first permanent location on Monday September 23rd, 2024. Oregon Sourdough Co., co-owned by Gretchen Lantz, has quickly risen from a humble farmers market stand to a local favorite. "Our first farmers market began with just 17 loaves of sourdough, plus some of what we call our "locally famous" Sourdough Browned Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies -- which sold out in just 35 minutes! We were off to the races, and our little company has grown exponentially since that first market day last year." Lantz reminisced. The new bakery, located at 485 NE Stephens in Roseburg, will offer the same artisanal sourdough breads and treats that locals have come to enjoy at weekly markets. The menu includes an array of sourdough breads, cookies, sweet breads, and their popular sourdough cinnamon rolls. Lantz's journey into sourdough baking began relatively recently. "I've spent a lifetime baking all sorts of things -- including bread, but sourdough was a new endeavor that started for us in 2023," she explained. The company's success stems from a combination of Lantz's lifelong baking experience and a prized sourdough starter acquired from a famous San Francisco bakery. The enthusiastic response to their products at farmers markets made it clear that a permanent location was necessary. "With the increased demand, it became clear that we needed to make our sourdough available to more people -- and more than just once a week!" Lantz said. Lantz describes the bakery's style and offerings as "the kind of homestyle treats you would enjoy at grandma's house." This includes their "locally famous" Sourdough Browned Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies, which consistently sell out at markets. Looking to the future, Oregon Sourdough Co. plans to expand its menu to include sandwiches and meals to go, among other options currently in development.
