Tiller Trail Fire Spreads Rapidly East of Canyonville
11:39 PM · Aug 10, 2024Update 5:50 pm: Fire is now reportedly up to 1,000-1,500 acres per DFPA, though the fire has not been mapped yet. Fire name is also officially Tiller Trail Fire, as per DFPA. The Tiller Trail Fire has really exploded this afternoon out about 16 miles east of Canyonville on Tiller Trail Highway. Latest reports have the fire at 200-300 acres as of 4:30pm Saturday afternoon. There is a level 3 evacuation for Devil's Knob Road and Crume Ranch Lane as of shortly after 4pm. Here is the 4pm update from DFPA: "Crews from DFPA, DCSO, Tiller Fire, Days Creek Fire Department, Milo Fire Department, South Umpqua Fire Department, Riddle Fire Department, Myrtle Creek Fire, Tri-City Fire, Central Douglas Fire, North Douglas Fire, Sutherlin Fire, and CFPA are currently responding to an estimated fast-moving 200- 300-acre fire near the 28000 block of Tiller Trail Highway, Tiller, OR. Multiple ground and air resources are on the fire, including an air attack and 5 helicopters. Due to the current fire activity and wind direction, Level 3, go now evacuations have been ordered by Douglas County Sheriff's Office for areas of Tiller and Drew, OR for all homes on Crume Ranch Lane & Devil's Knob Lane. There was a discrepancy on a DCSO map that was published. That is being addressed, but DFPA has confirmed the name of this fire is Tiller Trail Fire.
