A reminder about the nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) beginning at 11:20 a.m. Pacific Time on Wednesday, August 7. This alert will come over radio and TV channels; the test will NOT include a message on cell phones via Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA).

The test will help public safety officials assure they are able to get urgent, life-saving alerts to the public in times of an emergency or disaster. The test will help to determine if technological improvements are warranted.
