Roseburg Schools Air Quality Update Monday 12 noon
6:57 PM · Aug 28, 2023Roseburg Schools Air Update Monday 12 noon Hello Roseburg families, It was wonderful to see students’ smiling faces and excitement this morning on the first day of school, despite the smoky conditions. We are aware of current air quality index levels. With levels hovering around 300 at this time, we have decided to keep school open for the remainder of the day. We will keep kids inside, as we know air quality is better indoors. Parents are welcome to pick up their children at any time if they are concerned. In looking at forecasts for Tuesday, it appears conditions will be worse tomorrow. We will therefore plan for a half-day. A half-day will not require remote learning to occur or makeup days later in the year. The early release will apply to every school, and we will use the following release times: Roseburg High School: 12:45 p.m. Fremont and Jo Lane: 12:20 p.m. All elementary schools: 1:30 p.m. Busing will run according to these schedules, and students will have access to lunch at school. We will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates as needed. Please refer to our website, www.roseburg.k12.or.us, for the latest information. Sincerely, Jared Cordon Superintendent Roseburg Public School
