10:33 PM · Sep 7, 2024

Devils Knob Fire - Tiller, OR: 2,666 acres (pictured above) Smoke inversion continued throughout the morning, limiting the use of aviation resources but creating cooler temperatures and lowering fire activity. Crews continued to work on indirect and direct hand and dozer lines throughout the fire. Once the smoke cleared, aviation aided in suppression. Milepost 98 Fire - Canyonville, OR: 206 acres Smoke inversion continued throughout most of the day, limiting the use of aviation on this fire. However, cloud cover decreased fire activity, allowing ground crews to progress significantly in building indirect dozer and hand lines around the fire's perimeter. Once the smoke lifted, aviation resources were utilized to strengthen control lines and suppress heat. As of 6 pm,(Friday evening) this fire’s perimeter is 100% trailed with indirect line. Sunset welcomed decreased temperatures and fire activity, allowing ground crews to continue improving lines throughout the night. Traffic continues to be controlled on Interstate 5 from milepost 98 to milepost 97 for public and firefighter safety. Via DFPA
