Slurry Sealing to Begin Next Week in Roseburg

Construction will begin on Tuesday August 27 to slurry seal roughly 4.3 miles of residential streets throughout the City of Roseburg as part of this year’s annual pavement management project. A slurry seal is a very thin layer of aggregate with an asphalt emulsifier applied to a paved surface. Slurry seals are used primarily as preventative maintenance to prolong the life of the paved surface. The process requires all street parked vehicles to be removed from the impacted streets for one full day. Vehicular access will be restricted during the application and curing phase which lasts about 4 hours or more, weather dependent. The impacted streets will receive door hangers 48 hours in advance of the construction activities. All work is being performed by Pave Northwest, Inc. for a contract price of $209,070 and is expected to be complete within 1 week. More information is available by calling the City of Roseburg Public Works Department at 541-492-6730.
