The Elkton volleyball team won its third match in as many nights Thursday evening sweeping Umpqua Valley Christian in straight sets.

Set scores were 25-14, 15-17, 25-18. The Elks beat Yoncalla and Powers in the previous two nights. Kieryn Carces had 14 digs, four aces and 10 assists for the Elks (5-1, 4-0) who are now 4-0 in Skyline League play. Sadie Olson added nine digs. Sam McCall had nine kills and four aces. Margaret Byle added eight kills for the Elks who are ranked 16th in the latest OSAA 1A power rankings. UVC (1-3, 0-3) was led by Gianna Landes who had eight kills and four aces. Layla Poppas had five kills and 12 assists while Tylie Bendele added four blocks and four kills. Elkton plays at North Douglas (8-3, 3-0) next Tuesday in a matchup between undefeated Skyline League opponents. UVC hosts the UVC tournament this Saturday starting at 9 a.m. against Lowell.
