The Glide volleyball team lost to St Mary’s Wednesday night 3-1 in a non-league match.

Set scores were 25-21, 21-25, 25-20, 25-20. Junior captain Ruby Livingston is the lone returner from the Wildcats 2018 team and had 15 kills. Senior Zoe Parazoo had six aces and six kills. Lily Ranger a sophomore had 31 assists while Mackynzie Swain a junior had 32 assists for the Wildcats. “It was a really good match for my girls. It didn’t feel like a loss because they left it all out there. The girls don’t realize what they are capable of yet,” Glide head coach Stephanie Furlong said. “I’m excited to see that moment when they see what they can do as a team. They will be unrecognizable from the beginning to the end of the year.” Glide (0-3) lost 8 seniors last year so they have a younger group of girls playing this season. “We’re trying to work on our confidence and getting up to speed at the varsity level.” Furlong said. “There has been a lot of improvement in the last few days since our last match. The girls will keep on getting comfortable.” The Wildcats have two seniors, four juniors, three sophomores and two freshman on the team this year. “They’re absolutely capable of being a playoff team this year,” Furlong said. “We just have to work on their confidence, and getting to know each other as a new team. “ Glide hosts Bandon and Monroe at home Thursday night in a nonleague doubleheader starting at 4 p.m. The second match should start around 5:30 p.m. Glide will also play in the Les Schwab Tournament on Saturday at Reedsport High School before beginning 2A Southern Cascade League play next Tuesday at Lakeview.
