The North Douglas volleyball team defeated McKenzie in straight sets Wednesday night in the first round of the OSAA 1A state playoffs.

Set scores were 25-18, 25-7, 25-19. Nicki Derrick had six kills while Halli Vaughn added five kills for the Warriors (22-9). Rilie-jo Olds had five aces and Samantha McDowell had four aces and eight digs. “We played well. We served tough and hit well,” N.D. coach Emily Reed said. “We feel very fortunate and grateful to still be playing volleyball and are excited for the game Saturday. We feel like it will be a good matchup for us.” The twelfth seeded Warriors will face the fifth seeded Rogue Valley Adventist Academy on Saturday on the road. If they win that matchup they will make it to the state tournament at Ridgeview High School.
