The Umpqua Valley Christian volleyball team upset Elkton Thursday night in straight sets, in a Skyline League match.

Tylie Bendele had eight kills and four blocks while Giana Landes had 15 digs and five aces. “We’re so proud of how hard the girls played,” UVC coach Candice Renyer said. “They came together and played as a team and they finished strong which is what we’ve struggled to do this season. They minimized the amount of unforced errors so it was encouraging to see their hard work pay off.” Elkton (8-4, 7-3) was led by Sam McCall who had five kills and two aces. Kieryn Carnes pitched in six assists and three aces. Aspyn Luzier added five kills and Rylee Williamson had five assists. Elkton sits in third place in the Skyline League north division with four league matches remaining. UVC plays a double dual on October 12 against Days Creek and Glendale.
