Tiller Trail Fire Saturday Night Update
5:25 AM · Aug 11, 2024Here are a few more satellite images showing the heat perimeter of the Tiller Trail Fire this evening. The final image shows fire activity declining a bit which can be expected during the night which is good, but this is a pretty good size fire. Last reported size was 1,000-1,500 acres. According to Watch Duty, Incident command has requested 15 crews, 6 dozers, 6 water tenders, 5 type 6 engines and 12+ overhead for tomorrow. So lots of assets to fight this fire are on the way. A structural task force has also been assigned to the fire to help protect homes and other buildings threatened by the fire. They will be doing similar work that crews did along Hubbard Creek Road during the Cougar Creek Fire, which was a part of the Tyee Ridge Complex Fire last summer out Umpqua. Next update will be in the morning. I wouldn't be surprised if they map the fire boundary overnight and we get a more precise size of the fire tomorrow. Have a good night everyone.
