Update from Philip Ong: "This is an interesting glimpse of normal earth movements... A fault came unstuck and is catching up on the plate movements that surrounded it, but it’s not a traditionally dangerous fault and nothing to worry about. It’s a transform fault so has the wrong geometry for very hazardous tsunami, so no worries there, and generally it’s better that it’s releasing energy in lots of smaller events rather than one large one. We can be thankful about that!" Thanks Philip! An earthquake swarm has been taking place a few hundred miles off the Oregon Coast early this morning. In order, the quakes registered 5.0, 5.4, 5.4, 4.2, 3.1, 4.2, 4.7, 3.2, and 4.6. The first quake occurred at 5:43 am and the most recent one occurred at 7:26am. I will update this post with more info soon.
