A Fire was Started at Green Elementary School Last Night

2:01 AM · Jul 18, 2019

At 11:30pm last night, a fire was reported in a garbage can at Green Elementary School. The Fire Department was called and it was put out shortly after. The school was not damaged in the fire though a portable shed sustained some damage. At 1am, another fire was started not very far away at Green Siding Road by the railroad tracks. A pile of railroad ties was seen burning. This is the exact same pile of railroad ties that was set on fire 6 days ago, so there is a possibility it was a reigniting of that old fire. However, I spoke with workers in the area and that run the area on their lunch breaks and they reported no smoke or smoldering from the pile at all in the days leading up to last night's fire. It's unclear if the two fires are connected. If anyone has information or you saw anything suspicious in the two areas last night please contact the Douglas County Sheriffs Office.
