The Days Creek volleyball team downed Joseph in the second round of the 1A state playoffs in straight sets Saturday to advance to the state tournament next weekend. Set scores were 25-17, 25-16, 25-10. “It was a great game, Joseph is a very good team,” Days Creek coach Gloria Kruzic said. “They played well together as a team and were very scrappy. They had a couple of hitters that could really put the ball away and you could tell they were a well-coached team.” Moriah Michaels had nine kills and 11 digs for the Wolves (27-2). Joleen Crume had 14 kills and nine digs while Bailey Stufflebeam added four aces. Ashtyn Slater had 11 kills and Megan Kruzic had 38 assists. Shandiin Newton had six digs and two aces. "Joseph played hard they were very scrappy," Crume said. "I'm very proud of my team and how much heart they put into the game, they play with fire. I give all the glory to God because this season would not be possible without him." “I was very happy with our girls tonight,” Gloria Kruzic said. “They played awesome defense, they ran the offense well and executed well. We really ran as a team tonight. Everyone did their job and did it exceptionally well. I’m very proud to be their coach.” The second ranked Days Creek will now travel to Ridgeview High School in Redmond next Friday where they will face Perrydale at 10 a.m. in a quarterfinal match. If the Wolves win, they would play in a semifinal match at 1 p.m. on Friday. Photo of Joleen Crume going for a kill. Photo by Debbie Fuller.
