Where To Expect Snow Tonight in Southern Oregon

5:51 AM · Nov 27, 2019

Roseburg could possibly get a little snow tonight, but forecasts are saying that most snow will be above 1,000 feet. Areas such as Medford and Ashland should get at least an inch or more of snow overnight and into the morning. I-5 remains CLOSED NB at Fawndale and Southbound at Ashland. Northbound traffic in Dunsmuir is beginning to move but very slowly and will only be allowed as far as Weed. SB traffic is also moving with at least a two hour delay. Basically, if you are planning on traveling south anytime tomorrow, I would encourage you to rethink those plans and only do so once you are confident that I-5 will reopen. Lots of people are trapped going both directions and I'm hearing all the motels down there by the closures are full. Thousands of people are in between the closure spots and will have to ride things out. Here is what NWS out of Medford has for the forecast. WHAT...Moderate to heavy snow expected for Canyon Mountain Pass and for areas above 2500 feet. Light to moderate snow is expected above 1000 feet tonight and Wednesday morning. On Canyon Mountain and above 2500 feet, total snow accumulations of 6 to 12 inches are expected. For elevations between 1000 feet below 2500 feet, total snow accumulations of 1 to 5 inches expected. Wind gusts in the 35 to 55 mph range are possible into this evening. WHERE...The Winter Storm Warning includes Canyon Mountain Pass on I-5, portions of the Tiller-Trail Highway southeast of Tiller and elevations above 2500 feet. The Winter Weather Advisory is for elevations between 1000 and 2500 feet in Douglas County in including southern portions of the Umpqua Basin near Canyonville. WHEN...For the Winter Storm Warning, until 4 PM PST Wednesday. For the Winter Weather Advisory, from 4 PM this afternoon to 10 AM PST Wednesday. Additionally light snow will occur this morning down to 1000 feet.
