Timber Unity Rally Set for Thursday Morning in Salem
The second Timber Unity rally is set for 7am Thursday morning at the Oregon State Capitol. Organizers are expecting thousands of people from all over the state to attend the rally. The rally is taking place to oppose Senate Bill 1530 which aims to reduce the state’s greenhouse gas emissions. Opponents say that it unfairly burdens Oregon residents, and in particular the trucking, timber and agriculture industries. In 2017, there were 37 states that had higher CO2 emissions than Oregon. The local convoy will meet at the Douglas County Fairgrounds at 3:30 a.m and depart for Salem at 4am.
