Riverhawk 16-1 team takes 2nd in President Day Tournament
The Riverhawk 16-1 Chaos volleyball team finished second at the President Day tournament in Springfield. The 16 and under club volleyball team took first in pool play on Saturday and Sunday going 6-0 placing them in the Gold Bracket. They won the first two rounds then lost in the Championship match going 8-1 in the tournament. They placed second out of 40 teams. The team consists of high school athletes from Roseburg, Sutherlin, Glide and South Umpqua. “It was a big weekend for RiverHawk Volleyball Club,” Riverhawk coach Lacy Pinard said. “This group of freshman and sophomores are extremely dynamic. We are not extremely tall in height but these girls play big at the net and run a smart 5-1 offense.” The Chaos competes through the Columbia Empire league. Currently they’re seeded 25th out of 134 teams in Oregon and Washington. “They’re great at cleaning up the court and have each other's backs,” Pinard said. “I saw the most growth from them over the last three days while they broke through some confidence barriers. I’m very excited to watch them blossom.” The Chaos have 2 1/2 months left of club play.
