Another Duck Rescued at the Duck Pond in Roseburg

The past couple days we've been working on catching this injured female mallard at the duck pond. Late this afternoon Abraham finally captured it and we got it to one of the rehabbers at Umpqua Wildlife Rescue. It has a pretty good case of bumble foot. Thank you to Ashley for calling it in and letting us know about it! One way we can help the birds at the duck pond is by feeding them less (or not at all) which will attract less birds to the pond and improve the water quality. The high bacteria levels in the water at the pond is likely contributing to the number of cases of bumble foot there. ๐Ÿฆ†๐Ÿ’š Update: Charnele has already worked on the ducks foot today. Some sort of blunt force trauma caused the ducks bone to poke through the bottom of its foot so it was just dragging the bone on the ground. The little piece actually ended up just breaking off, which was good, as now Charnele was able to clean up the wounded area and get an antibiotic ointment on it and bandaged it all up. This will be done twice a day until the ducks foot heals up. She should recover! We will keep you all posted, and big thanks to Charnele and Laura for their help! (I added photos they just sent in)
