Rainforest Northwest Specializes In Rare and Tropical Plants

A local mother and daughter duo are opening a plant shop this Friday in Roseburg. Rainforest Northwest specializes in rare and tropical varieties, along with a large number of house plants. Sierra Fox and her mom BraeLee O'Connor who opened Rainforest Northwest are both born and raised in Roseburg. BraeLee's husband Patrick owns a local landscaping business, so Sierra has been working around plants for a long time. "It was more my daughter's dream, to sell plants. It couldn't have happened any smoother for our location, and with my daughter," O'Connor said. "It has been a bonding thing for my daughter and I, very fun. We have had bidding wars online bidding on plants together." "Our obsession for plants started about two years ago, mostly the basic indoor varieties," Fox said. "Once we got started we just couldn't stop. We went from local plant shopping of the most basic sorts, to buying rare tropical plants across the United States. After frequenting our local stores on a weekly basis looking for something new and exciting, we quickly saw a need and decided to fill it. In a short three month period, the seed we planted has begun to take root." Rainforest Northwest is opening this Friday and Saturday but currently, their business hours are by appointment only due to limited space and social distancing restrictions. "Unfortunately all of those times are booked" Fox said. "We are limited on space and have to limit the amount of people in the store at one time. We aren't going to turn people away that show up without an appointment, but those with an appointment have priority." They're open Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 12-7, Friday 8-4, and Saturday 10-3 all by appointment only.
