Wednesday Weather Update For Douglas County
Here is the latest weather update from the National Weather Service in Medford. Winds A strong front will bring gust winds this morning and afternoon to the typical windy locations. Wind Advisories are in place for the Shasta Valley and portions of the East Side, including the Summer Lake & Paisley area. Isolated power outages and downed trees are possible today and travel will be difficult for high profile vehicles. Winds will diminish this evening, but another strong front is expected Thursday night into Friday. Snow A cold front moving through the area today will bring periods of light to moderate snow to elevations above 5000 ft through this evening. If you plan to travel through or recreate in the Cascades today, be prepare for wintry conditions! When driving in ice and snow, take it slow! Make sure to carry chains, food, water, blankets, flashlights, medications, and a fully charged phone when traveling. High Surf Dangerous high surf along southern Oregon beaches and shorelines will continue. Surf heights will remain above 20 feet through Thursday, then peak at 23 to 27 feet Thursday night into Friday. Beach erosion is possible, as well as damage to exposed infrastructure. Beachgoers should stay off of jetties, rocks, and logs. Beachcombing is strongly discouraged. Another episode of high surf is likely on Sunday.
