Spots Available For DC Fairgrounds Vaccination Event Saturday For Residents 65+

(DPHN) As promised, we have more information on the mass drive-through COVID-19 vaccination event for seniors that will take place on Saturday, March 13, 2021. The event will be at the Douglas County Fairgrounds, and will be open only for eligible residents ages 65 and older, by appointment only. Douglas County and DPHN are working with local health care partners and volunteers to organize our first drive-through COVID vaccination event. Eligible seniors ages 65 and older can sign up for the drive-through vaccination event starting at NOON today, Wednesday, March 10, 2021 - in two ways: • For seniors who have access to a computer or a smartphone, you can do self-sign up at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/145391083645. The process is fast and easy and generally takes less than five minutes. • For seniors without computer access, please call (541) 671-3646 and leave a voicemail message. One of our volunteers will call you back and help get you signed up. According to Dr. Bob Dannenhoffer, our Douglas County Public Health Officer, “We will be offering 200 doses of the Johnson and Johnson one shot COVID vaccine, and 500 doses of the two shot Pfizer COVID vaccine. Both are excellent safe and effective vaccines.” We ask for your continued patience and kindness towards County and DPHN staff, as well as our health care partners as we systemically work to administer the vaccine to eligible residents with the allocation of vaccines that we receive from the state. Please understand that, we will not be able to vaccinate everyone that is eligible at our mass event, so we encourage eligible residents to continue to follow the guidelines for making an appointment by email with DPHN, or by calling your primary health care provider, the Roseburg VA, your Tribal Office or a local pharmacy to schedule an appointment.
