CHI Mercy Recognized as Top Rural Hospital

1:01 AM · Feb 16, 2022

CHI Mercy was recognized as a top rural hospital for 2022 by the Chartis Rural Hospital Performance INDEX. It is the only hospital in Oregon to receive this recognition. The assessment looks at rural hospitals across the country and monitors performance for hospital operations and finance. "This honor and recognition is due to the hard work, dedication and commitment of our employees, the support and dedication of our medical community and the visionary leadership of our Board of Directors,” CHI Mercy CEO Kelly Morgan said in a press release. ”Being included in the Top 100 nationally is a reflection of our daily commitment to provide our community access to the highest quality of care, delivered with compassion, while remaining a financially viable organization that can serve future generations of Douglas County residents.” Mercy started as a 25-bed hospital, funded through a donation from the community in 1909. Now, it is a 174-bed medical center with more than 1,000 employees and 200 volunteers and with advanced technology services to ensure Douglas County residents have access to state-of-the-art healthcare without having to leave town.
