Douglas County Grew by 515 Residents in the Past Year
The population of Douglas County grew by 515 residents, or by half a percent over the past 12 months, according to preliminary estimates from Portland State’s Population Research Center. Overall, the State of Oregon grew by 41,100 residents, primarily because of new residents moving to the state. Oregon is definitely not going through a baby boom. In fact, due to an aging population and declining birthrates of Oregon residents, births outnumbered deaths by less than 6,000. Migration accounted for 86% of Oregon’s population growth. The majority of the new arrivals landed in the the state’s largest population centers. Clackamas, Washington and Multnomah counties accounted for nearly half of the state’s population growth between 2018 and 2019.
