Roseburg High School to Host Twilight Invitational Meet Tomorrrow April 12th
Tomorrow on Apr 12th, is the Roseburg Twilight Invitational, hosted by Roseburg High School. ROSEBURG, Ore. — Tomorrow, April 12, Roseburg High School will host the annual Jim Robinson Champion Car Wash Roseburg Twilight Meet, a highly anticipated track and field meet with schools from across Oregon and California. The meet, sponsored by Champion Car Wash, is officially named in honor of former Roseburg coach Jim Robinson, recognizing his lasting legacy in the track and field community. Roseburg Head Coach Nathan Eckman shared his excitement heading into the meet. "The 4x400's will be out of this world!" he said, highlighting the relay teams as standouts to come watch! Eckman also highlighted several standout events and athletes from the participating schools: • A 6’7” high jumper from Phoenix High School, expected to be a highlight in the field events. • A pole vaulter and long jumper from Churchill, known for their impressive range and skill. • Clayton Wilson, son of former Roseburg state champion Emily Free, will race in the 1500m and 800m for Siuslaw. • Sutherlin’s throwing standout, with a 157-foot discus throw and top state rankings in the shot put. • Izak, one of Roseburg’s top javelin competitors, is also expected to perform well. Athletes from as far as Del Norte, California will be competing, showing the continued growth and reach of the meet. Coach Eckman reflected on the event’s history, noting his own experience running in the 1990 and 1991 editions. Now, decades later, he and the Roseburg community are proud to coach and support the next generation of athletes. Field events and races will take place throughout the day from 11:00 AM to 7:30 PM at Roseburg High School. Spectators are encouraged to attend and support the athletes as they compete.
