Severe Weather Possible in Douglas County Today until 5pm Saturday

A strong system is going to be moving through our area from the south today and into tomorrow. Significant lightning is possible and coupled with the high winds and dry conditions, a red flag warning has been issued. As you can see from the map, the system could act similarly to the one we had a few months ago that came up from the south at an angle and then traveled to the North and East. Biggest areas for impact will be towards the east of Douglas County. Impacts: Lightning and high fire danger will likely result in new fire starts. Gusty thunderstorm winds could contribute to fire spread. Despite rainfall, initial attack resources could be overwhelmed and holdover fires are possible. Winds: Generally south to southwest at 15 to 20 mph with gusts to 25 mph, but gusty and erratic winds are possible in the vicinity of showers and thunderstorms.
