Elijah stopped by and got photos of the retired Slovakian warbirds refueling at the Roseburg Airport headed to the Hillsboro Airshow this afternoon. The jet in the photo is an Aero L-39 Albatros, a high-performance jet trainer developed in Czechoslovakia and widely used by Eastern Bloc countries, including Slovakia. This particular jet is part of the Patriots Jet Team, a civilian aerobatic formation team based in California. Their aircraft are modified L-39s with upgraded avionics and smoke systems, and they often perform at U.S. airshows. The “1” on the tail indicates the lead aircraft. The registration number N139RH confirms it’s a civilian-registered aircraft in the U.S. Photos by Elijah Finlay
