Roseburg Winco Permit Approved

1:01 AM · Nov 29, 2022

Winco Foods has their permit approved from the Douglas County Building Department. Once the permit is issued, they will have six months to move forward with their plans to demolish the old K-mart building and start work on the new grocery store. "It’s difficult to say exactly when residents will actually see physical progress," said Noah Fleisher, Winco's Director of Corporate Communications. "With permits in-hand, we’ll look, in the near term, to bid the project out. Once that’s complete, we’ll commence construction soon thereafter." From previous stories: Winco Foods has submitted plans to the City of Roseburg to build a new location at the site of the old Kmart building on Stewart Parkway. The location has sat empty for the past several years. The proposal calls for demolishing the old Kmart building and constructing a new 72,971 sqft building in its place. The grocery store would operate 24hrs a day, 7 days a week. The store went through the City of Roseburg Planning Commission last year, was approved by City Council, and appeal to the Oregon Land Use Board of Appeals. The board approved City Council's decision and WinCo is moving forward with their plans. The company does not have a timeline yet, but the company spokesperson said they are thrilled to finally be bringing one of their stores to Roseburg. They said the community has shown they want a WinCo. It's in the design phase now. Winco has a total of 131 employee-owned stores with over 20k employees.
