Remembering James Thomas Crayton

James Thomas Crayton passed away from unknown origin on Sunday, Nov. 27, 2022, at Rose Haven Nursing Center in Roseburg. He was born May 21, 1955, in Cotton Plant, Mississippi to Judge Thomas "JT" Crayton and Elizabeth Jeffries. James grew up in New Albany, Mississippi and he attended BF Ford School and was baptized at Beaver Dam Church of New Albany, Mississippi; and then joined and served with the U.S. Army. James was preceded in death by his parents, Judge Thomas "JT" Crayton and Elizabeth (Jeffries) (Crayton) Harris; maternal grandparents, Tom Jeffries and Katie Mae (Woodard) Jeffries; paternal grandparents, Osie "RC" Crayton and Alberta (Black) Crayton; sisters, Ruth (Crayton) Long; Wilma K. Crayton; and brothers, Michael David Crayton and Charles Edward Crayton. James is survived by his brother's spouse, Annette "Jaye" (Watson) Crayton of Norman; and sister, Lula Jean Crayton of New Albany, Mississippi; and brother, Donald Glenn Crayton of Ripley, Mississippi; and sisters, Mennie B. Harris of Bolivar, Tennessee and Mary Louise Harris of Saltillo, Mississippi; and special sister in-law, Shirley Jean Crayton of New Albany, Mississippi; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The family of James Thomas Crayton will have private funeral arrangements in Mississippi under the direction of the Wilson's Chapel of the Roses and cremation services of Roseburg, Oregon, and Love Praise Tabernacle in New Albany, Mississippi. James' final resting place will be the Natchez National Cemetery of Natchez, Mississippi.
